Wrong-Way Collision on Southern State Parkway Leaves Multiple Injured

In the early morning hours of Sunday, February 2, 2025, the South Hempstead Fire Department, alongside the New York State Police and Nassau County Police Department, responded to a serious motor vehicle accident with entrapment. The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the Southern State Parkway, just west of Exit 20 (Grand Avenue).

Authorities report that the accident was caused by a driver traveling in the wrong direction on the parkway. The driver was taken into custody at the scene, though charges have not yet been disclosed.

Multiple individuals sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. At this time, their conditions remain unknown. Emergency crews worked swiftly to extricate and provide care to those involved, ensuring the safety of all on scene.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, and further details may become available as authorities continue to assess the situation.
