On Saturday, April 5th, the South Hempstead Fire Department proudly hosted its 120th Annual Installation of Chiefs and Officers. This long-standing tradition marks a special opportunity to honor outgoing officers, welcome new leadership, and recognize the continued service of our dedicated volunteers.

The evening included heartfelt celebrations of our life members and a sincere thank you to all who contribute to our mission throughout the year. Among the most memorable moments was a tribute to Vincent “Vinny” Castelli, who was recognized for an extraordinary 65 years of service. A former Chief and past Commissioner, Vinny continues to remain actively involved with the department at 95 years young.

His unwavering commitment and lifelong service are an inspiration to all of us. Congratulations, Vinny—and thank you for your dedication to South Hempstead.

We also extend our gratitude to everyone who attended and helped make this milestone event so meaningful. Here’s to another year of proud service and strong leadership.
